THE LOAN PROPOSALS.
(To the Editor “Stratford Post.”) gj r The result of Friday night s division on the loan proposals is disappointing in several ways, and has too humorous a side, which was supplied by Councillor Boon, who, while he was prepared to vote for any sum of money to be spent in the northeastern portion of the town (by-the-by could you tell me what part of the town Councillor Boon lives in?) sees nothing but evil in those who wish for any loan money to be spent elsewhere. I almost think Councillor Boon must have some property to be benefited by the drainage'scheme, and shollid feel sure of it if he did not rail at those who wish to have their properties improved at their own expense. His Worship’s attitude is disappointing. If it were possible that each area and each voter should be liable for the money spent in each area, then His Worship’s action would be absolutely correct. Had he been merely Councillor Kirkwood, his ac.ion would have been defensible; but he is Mayor. I need say no more. In conclusion, I would ask you, sir; 'and our fellow-townsmen, through you, whether for the sake of a few paltiy pounds it is wortn while stiiring up strife? Let each part of the town have a square deal. The north-east wants its drainage; we want our bridge.' In Heaven’s name let us both have what we want, but let us have no discord. —I am, etc., H. WILSON. Stratford, January 25th, 1913.
