ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
A DROWNING FATALITY.

Greymouth, January 20,
Shortly after three o’clock this afternoon Annie Heslin, ten years old, partially blind, was playing on the hank of tho Grey River at Taylorville,. near her parents’ residence, when she fell into the river. Frank lluane plunged in to her rescue and got into difficulties. He was rescued with great difficulty by a rope thrown from the bank by a man and a woman, and was pulled out in a state of collapse, being some time coming round. A party is dragging for the body, which has not yet been recovered.
FALL FROM A TRAM
Wellington, January 20.
A man, so far unidentified, fell from a tramcar in the city to-night, and was seriously injured about the head. He now lies in the hospital in an unconscious condition.
A PENSIONER’S DEATH
Invercargill, January 20,
Patrick Tally, an old-age pensioner, aged 75, was found dead in his hut at Cardrona to-day.
