At a congregational meeting of the Presbyterian Church last evening it was decided to affirm the action of the managers in purchasing Mr Wake’s residence for the new manse. Exactly £104,455 has been disbursed by the Federal Treasury in £5 bonuses for babies . For New, South Wales applications totalling 7590 have been paid, 44 others have been granted, and 713 are under consideration. Last week the applicants numbered 490 a day. This is a record. A cablegram received to-day states that 24,920 mothers in the Commonwealth have claimed the £5 maternity allowance, and only 135 were disallowed.
