WORK AND WAGES.
RABBIT-TRAPPERS’ STRIKE. (Received 9.20 a.m.) Sydney, J anuary 16. Four hundred rabbit-trappers struck at Gunnedah demanding /d and 3d for big and small rabbits respectively, it is feared that the trouble will become widespread owing to the trappers joining the Bush Unions amalgamation, which intends operating throughout the Commonwealth.
CONCILIATION COUNCIL
(Per Press Association.) Dunedin, January 15
Before the Conciliation Council today an agreement was arrived at in the dispute between the Dunedin Brewers, Bottlers, Bottle Washers and Aerated Waters’ Union of Workers and Employers. Provision was made for 48 hours a week. The following wages were provided :—For men on corking machines, £2 10s; men employed as labourers in bottling houses, £2 5s j men employed on aerated water bottling machines, filling glass bottles, £2 10s; youths between 14 and 15 years, 12s 6cl; 15 to 16, 15s; 16 to 18, £1; 18 to 19. £1 ss; 19 to 20, £1 10s; 20' to 21,,,.£1 15s. The agreement will remain in force for two years.
