THE NORTHERN TOURNAMENT THE FINAL. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, January 10. The weather was perfect to-day when the Northern Bowling Associa tion’s champion rink competition wa; concluded on the Auckland green The teams left in the final were Auckland (Ryrie, Thornes, .Black am Osmond), Wellington (Kinvig, Leslie Porteous, and Bell), Palmerston Nort. (Jollie, J)ickson, Pickering and Nash) Bell and Osmond played tjhe firs game, and after a very close contes. Bell won by 21 to 20. Honours wei\ easy on the 21st head, but on an ad ditional head being played Bell secret one and won the game. Bell had no difficulty in beatinj. Nash.in the final, the scores beinj. 21 to 23 in his favour. In the play-off for second place Os mond beat Nash by, 25 to 22. The filial for thd consolation matcl is to lie played to-morrow betweei Ballantyne (Wellington) and Walke (Ponsonby). In the final of the try match tin teams remaining in are; Power (T. Kuiti), Casey (Grey Lynn), and Nasi (Palmerston North). TARANAKI TOURNAMENT. Entries closed last night for tin Taranaki tournament which is to be held at New Plymouth on January 28 29, 30. The whole of the affiliatec clubs have nominated teams. In all 30 rinks have been entered, being dis tributed as follow:—New Plymouth Club 5, West End 4, Fitzroy 4, Wai tara 4, Inglewood 4, Opunake 3, Ha worn 3, Pa tea 2, Stratford 2, Waverley 2, Eltham 1, Manaia 1, Pihama 1.

Surely 29 to 0 must be a record score. This was the state of affairs h a game of 12 heads played on the Tt Rangi green during the Southland turnaraent.
