STRATFORD S.M. COURT.

ANNUAL RETURNS. The return of business done in the Magistrate’s Court at Stratford during the quarter ended December 31st, 1912, shows.that twelve sittings ot the Court, presided over by a magistrate, and 28 sittings presided over by Justices of the Peace were held. The aggregate amount sued for was £2327 2s 7d, and the aggregate amount recovered £1258 2s 6d. Five applications were heard in Chambers, and four order's were made. One hundred and ninety-one plaints were entered, 16 distress warrants issued, 25 judgment summons issued, and 10 orders made. Two warrants of committal and 1 writ of arrest were also issued. The bailiff and his assistants served 154 summonses, fourteen distress warrants, and one warrant of committal. Civil fees paid amounted to £l2B 4s, and licensing fees to £5 18s. Crimihal cases produced in fees and fines £67 2s 6d, of which £42 11s 6d was fines. One hundred and one males were taken into custody and three females. Nine Old Age Pensions were granted, one refused, and two applications are pending.
