TARIFF REFORM.
SIR JOSEPH WARD INTERVIEWED. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) United Press Association.) London, January 9. Sir Joseph Ward has arrived. In terviewed, he said that he always declared for Imperial preference which should not include the taxation of food for Britain. He still believed that this was practical. He was sure tiiat the Dominions would never ask the Home Country for food in order to bring the scheme into being. (Received 9.55 a.m.) London, January 9. Several newspapers represent that the Unionists’ memorial expresses the hope of the Colonial Conference and decides that a tax on food be not imposed before the general election. A CANADIAN DENIAL. / Ottawa, January 9. Mr. Borden officially denies making a compact or agreement with the j British tariff party when in England.
