Tho ‘Daily Telegraph’ states that Vice-Admiral Sir Percy Scott’s baronetcy is regarded as confirmation of the report that the Admiralty has adopted a lire director equipment for battleships and battle cruisers. This will involve an outlay of at least half a million. An exhaustive trial had proved an increased firing efficiency of 100 per cent. Numbers of members of the Amalgamated Engineers forcibly evicted the executive of the union from headquarters, and four were injured. The China Merchants’ Company is ordering in England four liners for which the Chinese Government guarantees payment. These vessels will he available for training cadets and also as auxiliary cruisers. During 1912 tho Congregational Churches of tho United Kingdom lost 2’22i members and 3187 Sunday-school pupils, and tho Baptists lost 2231 members and 4924 scholars. Testifying before the Marconi Enquiry Committee, Mr, G-andil, representing Poulson’s, said ho had not been given an opportunity, and could have tendered at a cheaper rate than Marconi with a lower cost of working. Ho admitted Poulson’s had never been tested over 2000 miles. Paris, January 2. An anarchist, Nory, the last of the Bonnet gang, has been arrested. A 34 HOUR AT A DUEL. THIRTY-TWO BOUTS WITH SABRES. (Received 1.10 p.m.) Budapesth, J ann ary 2. Count Tisga and Count Karolyj fought a duel which lasted for an hour. Thirty-two bouts were fought with sabres and both sustained slight wounds. They parted without a reconciliation being effected.
