TOOLEY STREET ANNOYED
(Received 11.5 a.m.)
London, January 2. The cabled summary of Sir George Reid’s butter report has aroused dissent in Tooloy street. Mr E. J Newton, a member of the Colonial Committee, explained to an interviewer that the committee have a daily consultation with members, watch the trend of the market, visit the stores, and inspect shipments. The committee sometimes call selling agents into consultation and inform the sellers what they consider a fair working basis when a market change of price is imminent. NAPIER 'WOOL SALES. Napier, January 3. The second wool sale of the season is proceeding under the most promising conditions. Forty-nine buyers are in attendance, and bidding opened for a record catalogue very spiritedly. Up to noon the best price obtained was 133 d for a fine lot of crossbred wool, hut generally prices were on a par with those ruling last sale.
