Victoria, in the first innings, scored 229 (Ryder not out 40). South Australia, in the second innings, have fire wickets down for thirty-nine (Mayne not out 30). Auckland, January 3.
Owing to rain making the wicket wet, the continuation of the Auck-land-Wellington match has been delayed. At noon, no decision had been arrived at as to when play was to be resumed.
CYCLING.
THE SIX DAYS’ RACE. Sydney, January 2. I Th the cycling race the leaders after eighty-seven hours have covered 1215 miles. The positions are unaltered. The competitors are two hundred, miles behind the corresponding period of last year’s race. MOTOR-CYCLE E ELI ABILITY. Eighteen out of twenty-seven starters in the motor-cycle reliability race, Melbourne to Sydney, finished, fifteen securing full points. (Received 10.30 a.m.) Sydpey, January 3. At the 'end of the fourth day the cyclists Had covered 1231 miles. The seven leading teams are-still together.
BOXING.
Los Ahgelds, January 1. Luther McCarthy knocked out Falser in the fight for the championship.
FOOTBALL.
SCOTLAND AND FRANCE. Pdris, January 1. The Rugby match between Scotland and France resulted: Scotland 21, France' 3. REFEREE MOBBED, - (Received 8.10 a.m.) Paris, January 2. The crowd mobbed the'English referee in the Fran co-Scottish match. He was assailed with sticks and stones, and was reached by the municipal gfiarctl (Received 10.15 a.m.) Paris, January 2. The majority of newspapers express regret at the mobbing of the referee, though some criticise his decisions. The papers further say tliflt the incidents did not detract from the cordiality of the bafiquet, which was attended by all players and officials.
WRESTLING
New York, January 2. At Detroit, Zbysko defeated Lundon gaining two straight falls.
