Eckard skated for 77 hours at Manly continuously, constituting a world’s record. THE FATAL SURF. Brisbane, December 28. A girl named Hobbs, getting into difficulties in the surf at Southport, three young men in turn went to her assistance, and all were drowned. Hobbs was rescued. ’ The names of those drowned are William Wilson, Arthur Brookes and Stanley Chapman.
