Patient: "I wish to consult you with regard to my utter loss of memory.” Doctor: "Ah, yes. Why—er—in cases of this nature I always require my fee in advance.” New Zealanders at Home and abroad will be interested to hear of the formation in Chicago, Illinois (U.S.A.) of the Australasian Society of America. It is composed of Australians and New Zealanders, and has as its aim, in addition to social gatherings for the promotion of good feeling among its members, the education ot tho American people to the part played by the lands of the South Pacific in the world’s progress in connection with commercial and tourist traffic, political econorny and the . peace of the world. It is especially hoped that this society will help in stimulating trade relations between these countries and America, as at present our yearly imports from America greatly exceed our exports to that country, largely on account of the ignorance of Americans in regard to the lines of business in which they could advantageously engage with these colonies. Mr. Fred Davison, of Melbourne, has been elected president of the society, with Mr. A. T. C. Thorne, of Auckland, as vicepresident.
