FIRES.
The Wavcrley correspondent of the ‘Patca Press’ reports that a shop occupied by Mr. C. Jacobsen, plumber, and owned by Dir. E. P. Blake, was completely destroyed by fire on Monday night. The outbreak of the fire is a complete mystery. The building, which was valued at £l6O, was not insured, and Mr. Blake is therefore a heavy loser. Mr. Jacobson bad bis stock, tools, and machines covered to the extent of £2OO in the Victoria Company, but be estimates bis loss at £l6O. The writer adks: “This shop has had a rather eventful career.. Not quite two years ago it was damaged when the shop adjoining was destroyed. It was repaired and improved, and was taken by Dir. Parker and used as a store. If we mistake not, another blaze occurred, but was put out while Dir. Parker was the occupier. Then about a month ago another outbreak was discovered by Mr. Joe Evans and this also 'was got under. Unfortunately the fire on Monday night bad too strong a bold before its discovery.”
