THE ENGLISH MAIL
(Received 12.5 p.m.) Adelaide, December 19
A portion of the English mail, including some for New Zealand, missed the train for Sydney on Tuesday owing to an accident to the mail cart. A BARQUE ASHORE. The French barque, Chatandriand, in ballast from Monte Video, is ashore on the Truebridgo Shoal. The crew is safe., It is doubtful if the vessel will get off.
NORTH MOUNT LYELL
Hobart, December 19
Ai. the North Mount Lyell enquiry extracts wore read from CheckInspector Gadd’s report urging the dangerous need of a second exit. Symons, one of those rescued at the 1000 ft; level, said there were no lad-der-ways therefrom, excepting the winze. Had travelling ways been open and the men instructed to use them, more would have been saved.
WOOL PRICES GOOD
Melbourne, December 19.
The wool sale has closed. There was a strong demand, and the prices for all good sorts were equal to the highest of the series. The next sale will be held on January 13th.
