AN INDIAN SENSATION

Calcutta, December 10. The trial of Dr. Clark, an officer of the medical department at Allahabad, Airs. Fulham, and a servant named Budliu for the murder of Airs. Claik, lias begun. Major Buchanan gave evidence that Airs. Clark’s daughter told him that she was awakened by her mother’s screams. She saw two natives in her mother’s room. One flourished a bludgeon. Tlie daughter fled, and did not see her mot.ier struck. Other evidence was given that Clark was in the habit of dining with Mrs. Fulham, and did so on the night of the murder, but told the police that he was at the railway station meeting a friend, and on returning home lie found his bungalow locked and his wife unconscious. He added that his wife was bad-tempered and constantly abused the servants.

A cable received' on November 29 stated that Mrs. Clark had been found with her head shattered. It was first supposed that the act was due to burglars. Subsequently her msbau and a widow named Fulham, with a native servant, were arrested. Mrs. Fulham’s husband died a year ago. It is suspected that he w as poisoned with arsenic.
