RACING CLUB MATTERS.

(To the Editor, “Stratford Post.”) Sir,- —In your issue of Wednesday I noticed a letter with respect to the Stratford Racing Club and the 10s totalisator, and was very pleased to see it, as that is a matter that should have the club’s reconsideration for reinstatement at its forthcoming meeting. Just after the last race meeting a correspondent signing himself “Race-goer” had a letter in your paper on the same subject, and he pointed out the defects at that meeting. I consider he was quite justified in saying what he did, and one would have thought that the committee would have acted upon his suggestion. In doing so, I am sure they would have acted wisely. Now, Sir, I would like to ask why the club again refuses to put in the 10s totalisator. Is it because they think they will not reap enough benefit out of it? If so, that is a mistake. Or do they want to again encourage the bookmakers on the sly, who will catch the spare dollars? Why they don’t have a ten shillings totalisator I can’t under- | stand, for other clubs, both large and j small, can do so. Then, “why not ! Stratford?” and thus give the work--1 iag man who cannot afford to spend s a pound a pop, a chance of indulging ! his sporting instinct of backing a : “gee gee?” ' There are yet other matters, such as the placing of a jockey board, divi--1 dend board, and the board giving the I number of the horses starting, in a , more prominent position on the i ground. Last year the public on the j outside had to stretch their necks | about three feet or so to get a glimpse of what is going on, to find out the amount of the dividend, and also who the jockey is. I hope, Sir, with your correspondent “Ten Shillings,” 'that the club will give these matters immediate consideration, and thus let the sporting public know in plenty of I time that they are going to be catered 1 for as' they should be catered for. | Thanking you, Mr. Editor, for enI crouching on your valuable space.— I, I am, etc., j ONE OF MANY. |1 Stratford, December 5, 1912.
