ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
_ A MOTOR ACCIDENT. (Per Press Association.) Reefton, December 4. A motor accident occurred at the Inahgalma .Junction when a- motor, driven by Sunderland, skidded over the bank'. A passenger named Dennis, a blacksmith at the railway works, was pinned under the can and injured, though to what extent is unknown. MOTOR FATALITY. Timaru, December 4. The victim of the motor-car accident yesterday died during the night. An inquest opened to-day and adjourned. WOMAN’S SUDDEN DEATH. Auckland, December 5. Evelyn Bracewell, a single woman, aged 29, died suddenly at Onehunga. Indications point to lysol poisoning. Deceased had been despondent lately. DEATH ON THE RAILWAY WORKS. Auckland, December 5. Arthur Cromer, eight years old, died on the railway construction works at Manngatauroto. At the inquest a verdict that death was due _to influenza resulting from tonsilitis was returned. Strong allegations were made concerning the absence of sanitary arrangements and accommodation for children on the works.
WAGGONER BREAKS HIS LEG. Te Kuiti, December 5. A young man, named McKay,, waggoining from Te Kuiti to Pio Pio, fell from the top of his load, and the wheel passed over his legs, one being broken. The waggon went over the bank, and a wheel was broken. LOST OVERBOARD. Dargavillo, December 5. A party of Auckland bowlers, who took part in the opening of the Dargaville Club yesterday, /were returning by special steamer last might, and when six miles from the Heads, Roddy McGregor, the well-known threequarter back footballer, who had remained on deck, was missed, apparently having gone overboard. No trace was found, and the steamer put back to Riverside port.
SUDDEN DEATH IN BED. ' Palmerston North, December 5. The sudden death occurred early this morning of F. Lecaldano, a chaffeur who had motored a party to the Woodville races yesterday and returned in excellent spirits. About 2 o’clock this morning he started suddenly in Ids sleep and expired. Deceased was only 30 years of age and leaves a wife and six young children. DEATH OF TAIHAPE SETTLER. Taihape, December 5. Joseph Green, one of the original settlors here, dropped down dead last night. He had been chasing a bull from a neighbour’s paddock and was much exhausted/ but bailed up his cows and went to the separating room, where lie was found dead ten minutes after. Heart failure was the cause.
