NO PREFERENCE, (Per Press Association.) Auckland, December 1. The Premier’s attention • was directed to the Mastcrton telegram reporting dissatisfaction among Territorials over the appointment of officers who, it was contended, have no qualifications for the position except that their parents hold high social positions and arc supporters of the Reform Party.

Mr Massey said that as far as he knew, social position had nothing to do with any appointments made under the Reform Government, either in Defence or in other Departments. He would, however, see the Minister of Defence on the subject.
