The Labour Council has received a communication from the Kalgoorlie and Boulder City Minors’ Unions that an industrial storm is gathering. The miners are taking a ballot to decide what action shall be taken regarding the demand for higher wages. ii work is ceased, 25,0(JU people after a fortnight will be dependent on outside help. The Chamber of Mines has offered to increase the surface rate from IQs to 10s Gd dailv.
The Radium Hall Company has commenced working. _ It is the first to produce pure radium bromide outside Europe. The product is valued at £IOOO per grain against twopence a grain for gold. The estimated output is valued at £6OO weekly. In the Assembly the Height of Buildings Bill passed its third reading. The Hill enacts that the City Council shall control buildings to the height of 100 feet, hut over that height the Ere Brigade Commissioner must report to the Chief Secretary.
