HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE
Every scat at Bernard’s popular little picture theatre was occupied last night when a memorable series or magnificent films were shown. Due or the greatest war pictures ever .imported into New Zealand is the Siege of Petersburg,” a Kalem masterpiece. A great story, dramatic and thrilling, has been constructed from the various assaults on Petersburg. Virginia while that city was being besieged by the Federal troops. the strategy and fortitude of both armies are displayed with astounding realism. ,one of the scenes which aroused immense enthusiasm last evening depicted the collapse of a burning bridge, occupied by fighting soldiers. ' A mine explosion •also figures in this epoch-making sen sation. The supporting pictures .were of unusual excellence. “Fate’s Warning,” and “The Narrow Road” appealing as dramas of merit. Of general interest was the splendid picture depic t : ng agriculture by motor. , The Cattle Fair in the Argentine and the Pathe Gazette were other items worthy of mentions* The fu)l orchestra was much enjoyed,. Mr Sid Bernard’s contribution being of special merit.
