Sir Cecil and Lady Moon, who have decided to make their home in Mew Zealand, have booked their passages by the Corinthic, sailing from London in December.
The Bishop of Christchurch and Bishop Neligan will attend the annual conference of the Church of England Men’s Society, to be held at Leeds. The Archbishop of York will preside. Ifr.* A. T. Griffin, the Ne w Zealand amateur champion boxer, , fought a three-rounds trial match some six weed's ago at the National Sporting /Club with Tom Tees, of Walworth. There was not much to choose between the two. Mr G. L. Petersen arrived at the Bluff:last week to make arrangements for the New Zealand tour of Messrs. Wirth Brothers’ Circus and Wild West, Show, which opens at Invercargill cfxi December 10. The Earl and Countess of Liverpool, accompanied by Miss Foljamb (her Ladyship’s companion), and Lieuten- , ant Eastwood, A.D.C., are expected to -arrive in Auckland by the P. and O. Conipany’s steamer Malwa on December. 18. The Wellington correspondent of the Christchurch ‘Press’ telegraphs to that paper:—“lt is understood in service circles that Mr. Poynton, Secretary to the Treasury, has handed in his resignation on account of illhealth. He is anxious to retire from his present position, so that he may at once proceed to Germany and consult an eminent specialist there re§af cling the complaint from which he as for some time past been suitering,-”
