The Stratford Evening Post. WITH WHICH IS INCORPORATED THE EGMONT SETTLER. THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 1912. TRAVELLING BY AIR.

The march of the aeroplane continues and new feats are daily announced. The latest project is a flight from. Britain to India by aeroplane, and it is hoped to accomplish this by Christmas. In India the project is being supported by a number of Indian princes and other potentates, including the Maharajahs of Jodhpur and Bikanir, each of whom has announced to the advisory committee his willingness to give prizes of 2000 and 4000 rupees respectively, and the Begum of Bhopal has also offered a prize of 3000 rupees. The Central News learns officially that the Royal Geographical Society lias rendered every possible assistance in selecting a suitable route, which has been as follows: London, Calais, Brussels, Cologne, then following the Rhine to Frankfort, where a diversion to Ratisbon will be made, thence following the north bank of the Danube. From Constantinople the route will he to Konieh, Cilieian, Adana, Alexandretta, striking the Euphrates at Meskcne, then following the river to Bagdad, where the Tigris will form the course to he followed as far as Basra. , As the plane will be fitted with water planes, it is probable the aviator will proceed across the Persian Gulf to Bushire. The coast, however, is flat for that stage of the journey, but it is a longer route than over the water to Bushire. The remainder of the journey is by water to Karachi. The distance is estimated at 1800 miles, and would take about twelve days. The estimated progress each day is 400 miles. No attempt, it is stated, howeer, will be made to create time records, but the idea is to test thoroughly the capabilities of the route and the machine. Several offers of machines have been received by the committee, but up to the present no definite arrangements have been made.
