BAND OF HOPE.
At the Methodist Band of Hope meeting on Tuesday evening the final programme for this season in connection with the work was enjoyed by a large number of people, the Primitive Methodist Sunday School room bc’ng packed to the doors. The programme was an excellent and lengthy one, and great credit is due to the members of the committee who did their utmost to secure the best items. In the absence of the president of the Band of Hope, the Rev. B. Metson kindly consented to occupy the chair, and he very capably filled the position. The solos were all nicely rendered, those deserving special mention being Miss Keith.*l Martin, Miss E. Moon, Miss M. Hopkins, Mrs J. Richards, and Mr I). Everiss. Recitations were nicely given by bliss E. Moon, Miss L. Clemow, and blaster Albert Bound (2). iA; duet by Miss and Mrs Cartwright was much appreciated; also a quartette by the Misses R. and E. Everiss, Messrs D. Everiss and C. Russ. The Primitive Methodist choir kindly sang an anthem, and the dialogues proved to he of a very interesting nature, th ere being two on tbe programme. “Peter Squill’s Downfall” (repeated hy request) again met with great favour, and “What the Pledge Card Did” proved to he an excellent dialogue. After the musical part of the programme the ladies handed round a first-class supper, after which the Rev. blctson pronounced .the Benediction. The proceeds of the meeting after paying expenses are to be donated to the Stratford Xn-Licon.se League.
