HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE. Saturday 1 night’s house at Bernard’ .., Pictures was an excellent one, but should be beaten this evening in anticipation of the latest series, including the magnificent “star” drama, “Die Ship of Lions.” Miss Jeanette, a lady lion tamer, whose fame has spread co foreign countries, is approached by a speculator, who induces Her to contract'for an extended Continental tour, and in due course arrangements are made for the animals to be shipped to Europe in the brig Audacious. Before sailing, the captain of the An dacious is called into the private office of the owners, and told that at a cer tain, little-visited capo, he is to tales aboard a cargo of gold dust in barrels which a party of smugglers there will have varitihg'fdrffiim.'ThG journey ha ■ hardly well begun when Miss Jean nette begins to find the close attentions of the impressario, who accompanies her to Europe, annoying. On the other hand, she finds the company of the handsome young captain of the vessel the reverse of disagreeable, and it is not long before the two become lovers. The disappointed impressario seeks revenge and engineers a meeting Die captain and Ids sweetheart contrive to ship away in a boat, and in leaving sot fire to the ship and letloose the lions. £o the horror of the mutineers, when they at last force the hatch, they are met with a. volume of smoke, through which there bound upwards the terrifying forms of the infuriated lions. Scattering in all directions, t/iey climb to the rigging for safety, Tlie ship is left without control of any so'ft, save that of the rapidly spreading fire and of the savage animals which, half mad with fear and anger, rush to and fro on the decks. From their boat the captain and Miss Jeannette watch the vessel, doomed to destruction by the flames which the presence of the animals will.nob allow the men to quench. This evening there will be cornet solos. Also the celebrated “One-string Fenicioca,” imported from the Coin a quarters of the salmon fisheries’of the Californian coast by Sid Bernard.
