White and Co. have a replace advertisement in this issue, giving seven good reasons why their large business is increasing. Messrs. Gillies and Nalder will hold their usual cattle sale in the Hawera sale yards to-morrow. Entries appear elsewhere. ,

On Wednesday, November 20tb, a plain 4 and fancy dress social will be conducted by the Stratford Druids in tiie Foresters’ Hall. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Limited and Reduced, have decided to postpone their supplementary bull fair, which was to be held in their Stratford yards on Monday, 18th November. x

A smart apprentice is wanted for a draper’s counter. .Notice of a special Bank holiday to bo observed on Thursday, November 21st, being People’s Day at the Hawera Show’, is given in another column.

A reward is offered for the return of a canvas side curtain off motor-car. In another column W. E. Porter advertises the good qualities cf Taupiri coal. Last week the representative of the Westminster Tobacco Company, of London, found time to pay a fleeting visit to Stratford in order to place the famous “Regent” Cigarettes on the local market. Stocks have now arrived, and salesmen ought to be kept busy. The “Regent” is a nicely put up,'English-made cigarette of highgrade quality, made from the finest Virginian leaf. Everywhere it is becoming the popular cigarette, and quite the vogue. In addition to packets and flat tins, “Regents” are put up in curved tins to fit the pocket. With this issue readers will receive insets relating to the free gift scheme of presents, in connection with, these cigarettes. A great number of people shared in the Derby and Golden Eagle free gift distribution for pipe smokers. Messrs. Kronheimer, Ltd., have now given cigarette smokers an opportunity of securing a beautiful free present for himself, Ins wife, sisters or friends, and at the same time enjoying a puff of pure delight. Particulars of Mr Newton King’s Haymarket and Mart Sales for Saturday next appear in another column. ’ Tenders for the supply of boulders and shell-rock are invited by the Stratford County Council.
