PREMIER ASSASSINATED.
FOUR SHOTS FIRED
MURDERER, A YOUNG MAN
(Received 8.40 a.in.) Madrid, November 12. Senpr Canalejas, the Spanish Premier, has been assassinated.
Senor Canalejas’s assassinator is Manuel Serrao Martin, aged 28, who is believed to have been incited by fiery speeches at Sunday’s annual demonstration over Ferrer’s execution.
Senor Canalejas was entering the Ministry Interior when four shots were fired, one striking him in the right car. The body was laid on the table in the central hall, where King Alfonso knelt in prayer.
MURDERER ATTEMPTS SUICIDE

Senor Canalejas was on foot and alone. He stopped to look in a shop window near the Ministry Interior, when a man went up and fired four shots point blank at him. Senor Canalejas fell dead, shot in the brain.
While Senor Canalejas was lying on the pavement the assassin fired again, and then shot himself, hut lie is still alive.
