MANCHESTER MESSAGE A HOAX.

(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, November 12. The signature on the message supposed to have come from Lambert, the trimmer on the lost dredge, Manchester, has been compared with an authentic signature, and the marine authorities decided that the message is a hoax. The signature is quite unlike Lambert’s.

The examinations for proficiency certificates are being held locally today, scholars from the outlying districts being in attendance at the Stratford School.
