Sydney, November 5. The Broken Hill Block Tin Company’s net profits for the past half year were £36,059; working costs 22s 7d per ton, compared to 18s 6d for the last corresponding half year. The increase is dno to labour conditions. The Herald declares if the Imperial Conference is held at Vancouver it will be one of the most important meetings since the Dominions were called ixito council with the Imperial Government. In regard to the defence of the Empire, some definite scheme for the future must be evolved. The proposed conference should do much to make this possible. Brisbane, November 5.
The Mount Morgan returns for October show that the gold reduction works produced 2793 ounces; the copper works 753 tons of copper, and 11,422 ounces of gold of a total value of £90,214. The gold contents of copper, showed marked improvement, averaging 7.78 dwts per ton, compared to 6.5 G in September.
