STRATFORD A. AND P. ASSOCIATION. The Champion Butter-fat Competition closed with a total entry of forty. This is surely a record in entries for a like competition in the Dominion. Although the Association’s officials in charge of the competition arranged for a goodly number of cows such a large number as received was not anticipated. However, proper and ample provision will be made for every cowsent in and owners need have no fear but that their stock will be well cared for in every particular. New bails arc being erected at the convincing ground, Mr W. G. Maione’s paddocks on the Opunake Road. The whole of the paddocks are well fenced, clean, clear land and well grassed. The cows are to be delivered to the Association on the 18th instant and will bo hold for nine days, the test being taken the last four days. The points to bo awarded will be one tenth for every pound of milk in the four and twenty-five points for every pound of butter of butterfat produced. On the last four days the milk will be weighed and samples taken from each milking, and finally tested, when prizes will bo awarded in accordance with the results obtained. There are four prizes and special prizes will lie given for the cow giving the most butter-fat and casein combined. The working of the test will be under the supervision of the Dairy ’Division of the Agricultural Department. The first seven cows placed h'ghost in the test will be on exhibition at the Show on both days. The entries received in this competition speak vVdumes for the number of entries that may be received when the date of the general entries close, on Thursday, 21st November.
