THE WHANGA RAILWAY.
(To the Editor “Stratford Post.”) Sir, —1 sec by your issue of the 2nd hist., the Govenpmcut is rpflueing the men on the Whangamomona. ( . railway works, and by. Christmas - /the,.,- works will be practically stopped; If. this is so, the Stratford and New Plymouth business people should call meetings immediately, and , strongly protest against the stoppage of this important line. It simply means if the works are delayed at this end and not at the Auckland side, the line from Ongarue will he completed to the Ohura before this end roaches Kohuratahi; then the whole of the King Country trade goes to Auckland, and Stratford will suffer considerably through the loss of business. I would suggest that the Chambers of Commerce at Stratford and New Plymouth should call meetings in this town: It is recognised by the Department as one of the most important lines in the Dominion.—l am, etc., J. McCLUGGAGE. Stratford, November 4th, 1912.
