All the officials are keen fanciers, and they have provided no less than four hundred and fifty-nine classes for every kind and description of dog. In addition to the Club’s programme prizes, there are sixty special prizes, including the British Bull-dog Championship trophy valued at seventyfive guineas, and other championship trophies in each class. The Club have been fortunate in securing the services of Mrs Johnson and Messrs S. Johnson, Percy H. Smith, R. H. Sheppard, and J. Fitzgerald, as judges.
MANAWATU. (Per Press Association.) Palmerston N., October 30. The Manawatu A. and P. Show opened to-day in fair weather. The entries this year are large in all sections. They come from Waikato in the north to Dunedin in the south. The show promises to be by far the most successful on record. There is a fine display of home industries and juvenile oiles, and crafts. To-day the judging was almost exclusively confined to those sections. The bulk of tile judges’ work will be done tomorrow. There is a very large number of side shows on the ground. Bain is falling to-night, but there are prospects of it clearing. Palmerston North, October 31. Bain fell heavily last night and showers also occurred this morning, but the weather showed signs of clearing before noon. The prospects are excellent for a big day at the spring show to-morrow. The attendance is not greatly affected by the weather, and like yesterday’s gathering promises to eclipse last year’s. To-day judging is proceeding in the horse, sheep, and cattle classes, also at the Kennel Club’s show.
