THE CZAREVITCH.
A ROYAL SENSATION. St. Petersburg, October 26. The latest story is that the ck.arevitch injured himself while climbing the spars of the imperial yacht Standart. Captain Chagi.i, feeling himself responsible, committed suicide. Captain Chagin led the Russian naval force in the Boxer rebellion. Another version says that the Czarevitch deliberately shot himself in the groin. The public are clamouring for a true version. The Czarevitch spent a good night. His temperature is a hundred. ' FURTHER QUEER REPORTS. St. Petersburg, October 26. The Czarevitch’s condition is hopeful. Many conflicting statements continue to be made. It is alleged that several revolutionaries, by means of false papers, secured enrolment in the crew of the Standart. Captain Chagin suicided because he had assured the Czar that the Standart was absolutely safe. Other statements arc that tire injury was purely accidental, and that Captain Chagin’s suicide arose from a love affair. He bequeathed £SOOO to the girl who attempted to commit suicide on learning of his death.
