Finding Stratford suitable for his labours, be built a factory in Juliet street and laid tho foundations of a business which now operates on a largo scale, and is deservedly popular. Mr Leydon was fortunate in securing tho services of Mr S. Clarke, who had had previous valuable experience in furniture manufacture both in Now Plymouth and Auckland. Mr Clarke, it is understood, will remain in the firm, and will continue to manage the manufacturing side of the business. Mr Leydon is not a young man, and his recent regrettable accident has been the means of influencing bis decision to retire from active business. After winding up his affairs, Mr Leydon intends to leave for Auckland. His departure will leave a big gap amongst local personalities, and his unbounded popularity wall cause him to be much missed.
