A ROTORUA LAND SALE. (For Press Association.) Rotorua, October 25. The Cretan Lands Commissioner today ottered the leases cf educatk-n.il endowmentson a 21 years’ lease with perpetual right of renewal at revaluation. The sections immediately opposite the railway, unimproved, realised an annual rental of £367 os for 3J acres, the highest prices being £ls and £lO for quarter acre sections. The upset of the former was £B, and of the latter £ls. Lidding for a section opposite the railway station was very brisk, and at £4O the Commissioner received a £5 bid upon which he instantly closed. One of the bidders called out: “Why don’t you look in this direction? There were bids here?” Afterwards ho approached the Commissioner’s table, and said something unheard by the public. The Coramisioner followed the bidder to his seat, and said heatedly: “You said I was squared. You must withdraw that.” The other replied: “I will not withdraw. I told you it was my bid, and you laughed at me.” The Commissioner ordered the man to leave the building, but the latter refused.
