OBITUARY.

VISCOUNT PEEL, AETAT 83. Viscount Peel was born in 1829 and was the youngest son of the late Prime Minister of that name. He was elected M.P. for Warwick in 1865, and continued a member for that constituency and the electorate of Learnington til] 1895. He was a Liberal until the Home Rule split, when he became a Unionist. After holding various important Parliamentary offices, he was appointed Speaker during Mr Gladstone’s second admistration, and was thrice re-elected to the chair, his occupancy of which gained him universal respect and admiration. On his retirement in April, ’95, the thanks of the House were voted to him ; he was made a Viscount and granted a pension of £IOOO a year for life. His heir is the Hon. William Robert Wellesley Peel.
