(Per Press Association.) Wellington, October 23. At the Mokau land inquiry to-diy, the Premier (Mr Massey) was callcel as a witness. The petitioner (Mr Joshua Jones) asked whether, in the opinion of the witness the Order-in-Council did not imperil his leasehold , interests. Mr Massey replied that he could not say if ho recollected aright, i'hc leasehold interests wore disposed of prior to the issue of the Order in-Coun-cil. He had stated that Mr Jones’ case should occupy the attention of the Government. Mr Homes was also called. He said that in his opinion Mr Jones was quite out of the matter. At the time of the issue of the Ordor-in-Counc.l, leases had been sold by tire Flower estate, and petitioner’s legal claims were entirely extinct. Ho thought the Order-in-Council only affected tfio natives.
