It was fair and reasonable to ask Britain to defend her own coasts and to take a large share in defending Imperial trade. Speaking at the Trafalgar Day celebrations, Mr. Pearce urged the necessity for tho Mother Country and the Dominions acting together. With this object, the Federal Government was looking to New Zealand, asking her to join and make the fleet unit in the Pacific stronger and larger.
