Attention was directed in the Legis- 1 lativo Council on Friday afternoon, j when the Public Service Bill was under j discussion in committee, to the posi- j tion civil employees would be in it the power of the Commissioners were exercised in the direction of dismissing superfluous employees, says the “N.Z. Times.” Clause 12 of the Bill provides that the Commissioner shall inspect departments, and where employees are in excess of requirements he shall transfer them to other departments, or failing that, dispense with their services.
