RIFLE SHOOTING. (Per Press Association.) Masterton, October 10. The annual rifle shooting meeting in connection with the Wairarapa North. Rifle Association opened to-day, with about sixty competitors. The leading >scorers in the matches tired are;— Tararua Match, A. Beet-ham (Opaki) -15; Ka.itawa .Match, G. Clark (Bulls). 34 ; Tewharau Match, AY. .Monks (Bulls), 35; Opaki Match, V. Morgan (Carterton), 33; Opaki won the Teame Match with a score of 008, Maurice villo being second with 601. The leading aggregate at the end of tin day was A. Beet-ham (Opaki), 127.
Between October 10 and November 2 over £IO,OOO will be divided amongst the ‘‘crack” shots of Australia- bv two associations alone. At Randwick. New South Wales, the National Rim 1 A Rf.oc-i a Lion will oiler £7500 for competition, and a week' after that nieelill<r closes the experts will assemble at. Williamstown, near Melbourne, to
compote for the £4GOO put up by the Victorian Rifle Association. It is pi'obablc that the prizes offered in each instance will bo more than covered by the entrance fees.
