At a meeting of waterside workers 200 were present. There was a lively discussion on the motion to abandon the holiday and demonstration to-mor-row, and it was rejected by 120 to 80. As the meeting was not fully representative it was agreed to take a fuller vote to-morrow morning. Napier, October 9. The trawler Nora Niven is temporarily laid up owing to a difficulty with the crew. The men objected to the cook being engaged by the owners, and they declined to go to sea unless an alteration was made. The owners accordingly paid the men off and operations were suspended till a new crew was secured.
