DROWNED AT LYTTELTON. (Per Press Association.) Christohurch, October 6. Shortly alter 5 o’clock this evening two small boys who were on No. 4 wharf at Lyttelton noticed what appeared to ho a body floating in the water. They called two men, who went down and found it to be the body of a man. They sent for the police, and the body was taken to the morgue. It was in a state of advanced decomposition, and was unrecognisable. In the coat pockets was found a membership book of the' Federated Seamen’s Union of Australasia, with the name James Murdoch, and the date of enrolment January 1, 1912. There was also a copy of the Liverpool Weekly Mercury. It is stated that a man named James Murdoch, who deserted from the steamer Kent some months ago, lias been raising for some time.
