NOTIFICATION TO FARMERS. AS you aro awilte, for some considerable time past the position in regard to the inspection of Pigs lias been anything but satisfactory. The standard adopted by the Department clearly indicates that-disease in pigs is by no means on the decrease, and the time has arrived when some action must be taken to bripg about an improvement. The Department of Agriculture has gwfen. a great deal of attention to the question, with the result that a standardisation of inspection lias been brought about. It nas therefore been decided that as from October Ist the Department will pay out to the farmers the compensation due under the “Slaughtering Act.” The method adopted bv W. DIMOCK AND CO. to individualise each farmer’s pigs when they arrive at the firm’s works, will be to insert stamped rings into each pig’s ear, when, on the scales, and should any pigs arrive at the works without rings, or die during transit, the Company will lie responsible. Dockets will lie issued clearly showing places, names, and numbers connected with each individual transaction. W. DIMOCK AND CO., LTD.
