HIS MAJESTY’S THEATRE
i To-night will be the last opportunity given to patrons of viewing cue current series of pictures, including tne beautiful Dick Turpin film, one of tho finest films yet screened here. For Monday evening a magnificent set of new pictures has been secured by Madame Bernard, the "star” film being “The Love of an Island Maid.” Catalina is a pretty shell vendor on an island off the California coast, simple hearted, a passionate child of nature, a nymph in the water, and as graceful a.s a chamois among the craigs of her sea-girt home. Loved by Amado, a native boatman, she is fascinated by John Dalton, whose friends are present on a visit, among tnern his fiancee, Eleanor Henry. Dalton, as a pleasant diversion, trifles with Catalina. To her it is a serious matter, and, in a fit of jealosy, she is prevented from casting Eleanor from a craig into the sea by the sudden appearance of Amado. Her lover divines that she loves Dalton, tho yachtsman, and he, and, in a fit of jealousy she is preventing the craft, .seizing Dalton in his arms and jumping overboard. Catalina follows, and through her expert swimming, manages to send Amedo to the bottom and rescue Dalton. She has learned by now that Dalton does not love her, and the following day, when lie calls to reward her for saving hU life, she dramatically refuses his geld and hears her humiliation with all the fine pride of her spirited race. Another him of unusual interest is the atest thing in photography from aeroplanes It gives some of the sensations of actual flight, and is a most thrilling picture. The bird man is Mr. Coffin, the famous aeronaut, and the picture is without doubt the latest thing iu miraculous cinematography.
