Mr Wrenn has cabled £IOOO to the Sporting Life for Mehegan’s stake in the proposed fight against Bombardier Wells. LIGHT-WEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP. Wanganui, September 26. A contest for .the professional lightweight boxing championship was held to-night. A clean, ovently contested bout of fifteen rounds was boxed by Alf. Gault (challenger) and Len Porter (holder), resulting in a draw. Allan Maxwell afterwards challenged Porter. GOLF. THE VICTORIAN CHAMPIONSHIP. Melbourne, September 26. In the final of the amateur golf championship, Mrs M. Fowler (Adelaide) tied with Miss V. Bennie (Melbourne). •
