Diplomatic circles are convinced that peace will not be disturb-j cd owing to the resolute attitude of the Powers.
REVOLT IN NORTHERN BRAZIL
Rio do Janiero, September 26
Troops have been sent to Santa Cathinia to suppress a fanatical movement led hy a self-styled monk who is urging revolt and declaring that monarchy is proclaimed in Northern Brazil. THE RECENT TYPHOON. Tokio, September 26. The damage caused by the typhoon is estimated at £4,000,000. Crops are ruined. The Kiekomaru foundered off Enshu and the crew and passengers perished. The harbours at Asaka and Nacoya were demolished. Twenty thousand houses at Osaka were wrecked. Two hundred and sixty-two persons were killed and 283 injured in Gifu./
