O RACE MURDER IN AUSTRALIA
Melbourne, September 26. Professor Rontoul, in his presidential address at the Presbyterian Assembly, said that the maternity allowance was a transparent trick to eaten votes in the coming political scramble He deplored the rapid extirpation of the race in Australia, and said that a horrible' kind of secret murder was penetrating the houses of the people and sapping the nation’s life. Raci murder outweighed the increases ol immigration, and was deadlier to tin British Empire than a long-continued ■war. He llenied the contention of tin Roman Catholics that that body war freer than any other from this of fence. (Received 10.40 a.m.) Melbourne, September 27.
The House negatived Mr Groom'; amendment to the Maternity Bill pro posing to combine with the maternit allowance a provision against s enes, and unemployment.
