Frank Muir, charged with forgery and uttering at Uronui on September 23rd, appeared before the local Court this morning, and was remanded to Now'Plymouth. 3 ' Auckland, September 25; The Auckland railway authorities, state that the land slip on the railway reported to have struck thejgoods train due at Ttuimarumii at 3,15 p.m. yesterday was of a slight nature. The Egmont Club’s Parliamentary Union’s team are to meet a team trom tho New Plymouth Brotherhood on Thursday, October 10th, in the Parish Hall, if it can ho obtained. _ Now Plymouth will affirm the principle State control is a better solution ot the liquor problem than prohibition. ’ Mr. W. G. K. Konrick, S.M., will bo asked to be referee, and Dr. Carbery and Mr. F. A. Tyrer will bo umpires. Tho local team will ho Rev. A. Reader (leader), Messrs. O. D. Solo, J.
