JEALOUSY CAUSES REVOLVER DUEL. (Received 8.35 a.m.) Paris, September 20. A jealous husband meeting a rival in a crowded place at De Labile had' a revolver duel, ten shots being exchanged. The husband was slightly wounded. The wife interposing was also wounded. The crowd mistaking the husband for an Apache he was roughly handled. ARREST OF WIDOW BLOOME. Copenhagen, September 20. A sensation has occurred at Posen over the arrest of the widow of Dr. Bloomc, a young educationist, in connection with her husband’s death. It is supposed that he was accidentally shot , whilst examining a revolver in his wife’s presence.
AMERICAN FINANCE. Washington, September 20. President Taft has written to the secretary of the Treasury attacking Congress methods of finance. He says that the United States is the only important country where no Budget is presented. Congress makes appropriations without examining the financial conditions. He has ordered the heads of departments to submit estimates to the President before they reach Congress. TRAIN AND STREET CAR COLLIDE New York, September 20. An express train struck and smashed to atoms a street car in New York. Two passengers were killed and eight seriously injured. ROOSEVELT AND THE PEOPLE. New York, Sept ember 20. Roosevelt announces that if, when elected President, the people are not satisfied he would willingly leave office, if asked.
THE ARMY MANOEUVRES. London, September 20. The King inspected the troops at the conclusion of the manoeuvres, and complimented the officers on the results.
