ENGLISHMEN WIN BY EIGHT WICKETS. London, September 14. The weather was fine and the wicket fast. The attendance was small. The remaining seven Australian wickets contributed 108. Hitch bowled, excellently and finished with five wickets for 84 runs. Bardsley was dismissed by a wonderful left-handed catch, low down in the slips. He batted for 85 minutes. Mayne was in fifty minutes. Minnett succumbed to his first ball. Carkeek's dismissal was <luc to brilliant fielding by Barnes at midoil'. Gregory played excellently for 80 minutes. The innings occupied 2.50 minutes. Fry's team wiped out the deficit with the loss, of two wickets. Hobbs was in for ninety minutes, and Hearne for 55 minutes. Hearne showed fine driving.
