At Sydney Tattersall's meeting on Saturday, the Tramway Handicap, of six furlongs, was won by Gigandra, with Theodore second and Sunlike third. There were twenty-four starters and Gigandra won by nearly three lengths in lmin Z4isec. At the same meeting the Chelmsford Stakes fell to Duke Foote, with Perdita and Malt King filling the other places. Twenty-three horses started. Malt King, Burin and Cader showed out at the start. Later Volsloane and Commander took charge, but at the half distance Malt King held an advantage. Duke Foote then came with a great run on the outside and won by a length, with Malt King a length and a-half away third. Time, lmin 55" sec.
The Spring Handicap at Tattersall's meeting resulted in Danaus beating the New Zealander Shuja, with Sandbath in third place. Eighteen horses started. Danaus won by a length and a-half. Time, 2min Bsec. At the Men tone races on Saturday the Mentone Cup was won by Glen Earnan, with the New Zealanders, Wimmera and Puaka, in second and third places. There were twelve starters, and Glen Earnan won by a neck. .
